Rockingham Pottery

Welcome to our web site!

We collect Rockingham Pottery (Circa 1745-1842).
Rockingham Pottery closed in 1842 and all that remains of the pottery today is the massive Waterloo Kiln (named after the battle of the same name) which is located near Swinton South Yorkshire, England.
Following the closure of the pottery the Kiln was used for some time as an isolation hospital, and then later as a private dwelling place. A sad ending for one of the worlds most famous potteries. However Rockingham pottery produced there is still as beautiful today as the day it was made.

Rockingham china has a distinctive Griffin crest and became world famous in the 1800's It was purchased by many of the leading nobles of the day. Sadly production was very short lived: the last major undertaking to produce a large dessert service for King William IV seemed to have been achieved at the expense of commercial viability and the pottery was closed in 1842.
